The Drysdale Clinic
was commenced in 1984 by Dr Sandra Palmer and quickly grew over the
following year when Sandra was joined by her husband, Dr Nick Kafieris.
Originally situated at 36 Princess St, the practice underwent a period
of stability before Dr David Walder joined the clinic in 1995.
Dr David Unkenstein
joined the practice in 1996 after Dr Kafieris finished at the clinic due
to health reasons.
In 1998 Dr Palmer
left the clinic and since that time the clinic has been fortunate to
have a strong female presence with Dr Catriona Pendrigh, Dr Lucy Ham and
Dr Carmel Pilgrim.
Due to strong growth
both in the area and of the practice, Dr Walder and Dr Unkenstein in
1997 took the opportunity to purchase the old tennis courts in the heart
of Drysdale. The 2000 sq.m. lot provided ample possibilities to build a
new state of the art medical centre.
After careful
planning building commenced in the year 2000 and was completed on time
and within budget. The new facility has 6 consulting rooms, a 3-bay
emergency and treatment area, a large multi-purpose treatment room used
by physiotherapists and myotherapist, and a large functional reception
area and waiting room. The clinic is wheelchair friendly with wide
hallways and ramp entrance, and there is a large car park.
During construction
wherever possible local tradesmen were used. Construction was by Mike
and Shaun Colley and for their expertise we are grateful. Other
tradesmen used were Andre Skeen-Plumbing, Chris Skeen-Electrical,
Drysdale Carpet Court-carpets/vinyl, Craig Hodder-heating/cooling and
Rod Taylor-signs.
With construction
finished the practice moved into the new building on October 16th
2000.Aside from a few minor problems there were no significant problems
and the new layout is proving to be a much better working environment in
which to practice medicine.
Our aim is to
continue to practice high quality medicine and the new facility
certainly gives us a great opportunity to continue to provide our
community with first class medical care.
